It’s my turn in the spotlight at Oscraps and I have a freebie and a series of really cool challenges all week long!

Challenge Theme:

Your Family Tree {Redefined} (aka this is definitely NOT your grandmother's family tree)

Okay ladies, get ready for a whole new approach to thinking about genealogy! As much as I love the idea of tracing and recording my family tree, the very thought of it completely and totally overwhelms me (to the point where I won't even touch it)!!! I know a whole bunch of you can relate to this, so I came up with a set of goals to help me get focused on what I really want to accomplish in the (rare and fleeting) time that I spend recording my family's history. I hope these goals will help inspire you this week as we take on five challenges that are designed to get your family tree & history recording started!

Here are the goals:

1) Define your family tree the way you see it right now, what it looks like at this moment in time
2) Celebrate each of the members of your family tree and capture who they are right now
3) Record your family's story through photos and journaling
4) Build connections between the generations, members of your family tree from the present and past

The good news - this is nothing radical - you're already doing this right now in your everyday scrapping!! The secret to this approach to genealogical scrapping is focusing your energy on the present, celebrating the people who YOU love right now and recording who they are right now, THEN connecting all these wonderful people to the people you know (or other family members knew) from your family's recent and distant past.

Over this week I will be posting five challenges (one per day for five days) to help inspire you! All of these challenges will be twofold - the first challenge will help you record something from your family's present, while the second challenge will give you the perfect opportunity to build connections between the generations of your family tree in a second layout!

The Rules:

Layouts must contain 100% Oscraps products with at least 50% of the layout created from items from Joanne Brisebois Designs

All layouts should be labeled "JOANNE BRISEBOIS SPOTLIGHT" and posted in my gallery here at Oscraps by midnight, EST, Sunday Dec. 13 to be eligible for prizes - only layouts posted in this gallery will be eligible for prizes!

Post a link to your layout in this Spotlight thread AND indicate which prize your layout is vying for - "Layout 1" or "Layout 2"
